In Falsus Black Screen, No Sound and Other Fixes
These come from the Steam forum and reviews in the first days after launch. None has an official fix note from lowiro yet; where a player found a workaround, it is listed.
No sound
Fix reported: change the audio buffer size in the game’s advanced audio settings. A player who lost all audio after an update fixed it this way. The game also offers ASIO output, which can help if your default device misbehaves.
Frame drops
Fix reported: lower your mouse polling rate. One player’s 8,000 Hz mouse caused frame drops that stopped at 1,000 Hz. On low-end PCs, the Japanese wiki warns that dropped frames show up as input lag.
Two holds will not register together
Classic case: holding A and D at the same time, and one of them drops. Fix reported: turn off SOCD (often sold as snap tap) for those keys in your keyboard software. It is designed for shooters, where A and D cancel each other.
Chords do not register on a laptop
Many laptop and membrane keyboards cannot detect several keys at once (ghosting). Try binding the lanes to other keys, use an external keyboard, or play charts without wide chords. You never need all six keys at once: wide notes accept any one key they cover. See the controls guide.
Cannot see side-lane notes
The most common complaint in reviews. The Japanese wiki’s patch notes say 1.0.2c added an option to highlight the side lanes, plus an inactive-lane warning. If you use an ISO keyboard with a small left Shift, one reviewer found the left side lane hard to reach; rebind it.
Black screen on launch
Reported on the Steam forum with no error message, including after unplugging external sound cards. One reviewer says the game launched after they rolled back a recent Windows security update. Try verifying the game files first.
Purple screen
A demo player reported the whole window turning purple with only audio playing, even after reinstalling. No fix was posted.
Linux and Steam Deck
There is no Linux build, but Proton works for most people; one player reported a display bug on Ubuntu 22.04 with Proton 10. The Steam Deck is rated Playable; see platforms.
Reporting bugs
Use the official Discord or the game’s Steam forum. The links page has both.
